Former Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal (LVG) has told Ajax Amsterdam defender Matthijs De Ligt to sign for Premier League champions Manchester City ahead of his former club.
The Dutch tactician made this known in his latest interview as monitored by the Manchester Evening News (MEN).
Matthijs De Ligt is undoubtedly the bride of the current transfer window following his exceptional season with Ajax Amsterdam.
The 19-year-old skippered Ajax Amsterdam to their first domestic double in over a decade.
The Dutch Eredivisie giants had not won a domestic double since 2007 but De Ligt and his Ajax teammates were able to pull it off.

Former Ajax Amsterdam manager Peter Bosz had earlier told Fox Sports that the aforementioned De Ligt should join Pep Guardiola at Manchester City and he was backed by another ex-manager LVG.
The former Manchester United manager said De Ligt could join Manchester City or Barcelona turning his back on the Red Devils.
He went on to say that De Ligt should choose Pep Guardiola over Ole Gunnar.
LVG was the Manchester United manager for two seasons between 2014 and 2016.
