Premier League giants Manchester United have reportedly been ruled out of the race to sign highly rated Ajax Amsterdam defender Matthijs De Ligt during this summer’s transfer window.
According to Sky Sports sources, De Ligt won’t be joining Manchester United this summer.
It was revealed that the player’s head has been turned by the advances from Barcelona.
The new development leaves the Spanish champions as the clear favourites in the race to sign the Dutch international centre back.

Earlier reports had claimed that Manchester United are edging closer to a deal after offering the player a lucrative contract in the attempt to lure him to the Premier League.
The Red Devils were said to have offered the player around £350,000 on a weekly basis in addition to a £70m transfer fee.
Matthijs De Ligt has set his sights on linking up with international teammate Frenkie De Jong at Barcelona this summer.
Both players are on the books of Ajax but De Jong has already sealed a move to the Catalan giants as at January and he’s expected to join them this summer.
Matthijs De Ligt was instrumental to the double domestic feat achieved at Ajax Amsterdam this season in addition to reaching the Champions League semifinals.
