Italian Serie A giants Lazio have joined the race to sign Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck this summer.

This is according to the publication from the Sunday Sun which claimed that the Italians are the new entrant on the list of clubs interested in a free transfer move for Welbeck who will be out of contract at Arsenal this summer.

He has few weeks left on his current deal with the Gunners having joined them shortly after the 2014 FIFA World Cup tournament in Brazil.

Danny Welbeck signed for Arsenal in a deal reported to be around £16m.

The England international was on the books of Manchester United before they sold him to Arsenal.

His time with the Gunners has been characterized by several lengthy injury layoffs.

Arsenal have already confirmed that he will leave the club this summer upon the expiration of his contract and he has been touted as a possible transfer addition for clubs in Europe.

Premier League sides like Newcastle United, West Ham United and Everton have all been linked with a free transfer move for him before the latest news regarding the interest of Italian capital club Lazio.

Danny Welbeck has been out of action since November 2018 but he’s back in training and could make his return during the Europa League final with London rivals Chelsea on Wednesday night.
