North London giants Arsenal have had a bid rejected for Lorient forward Alexis Claude-Maurice according to widespread reports emanating from the media in France.
The Gunners want to boost their forward options with the young French player but their first bid for the player was rebuffed by his club.
According to French news outlet GFFN, Arsenal made a €7m bid for Alexis Claude-Maurice which was immediately knocked back by his French Ligue 2 club.
The Gunners are expected to return with a new bid for the French junior international star.
Claude-Maurice has scored 14 goals and also provided four assists in 35 league games for Lorient this term.
Several clubs are interested in the 20-year-old but his preference is a move to Arsenal where he has the opportunity to link up with former Lorient teammate Matteo Guendouzi.
Arsenal fans were sent into an ecstatic state when he visited his friend Matteo Guendouzi in London earlier this week to further heighten talks of a move to North London.
French top flight sides like Lille and AS Monaco are also on his trail.
Arsenal star Matteo Guendouzi was a Lorient player before the Gunners paid £7m to secure his transfer last summer.
He has been a revelation at Arsenal with his outing in his debut campaign at the club.
