Premier League giants Manchester United have offered highly rated Ajax Amsterdam defender Matthijs De Ligt a huge contract offer in their quest to sign him this summer.
According to Spanish newspaper Sport, De Ligt has been offered a whopping sum of €14m on a yearly basis in their bid to sign the young defender.
It was revealed that the Red Devils are prepared to even offer the Dutch international centre back more money to secure his signing ahead of the other interested clubs.
Other major European sides like Spanish champions Barcelona, Italian Serie A champions Juventus, Premier League champions Manchester City and French Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint Germain (PSG) are all keen on a transfer for the in-demand De Ligt.
Five-time European champions Barcelona were thought to be the overwhelming favorites to land him but the Catalan giants have not been able to close out a deal for him.
This is mainly due to the financial demands required to sign the young Dutchman.
Matthijs De Ligt has left a lasting impression on Ajax Amsterdam since he became the skipper last year.
He’s expected to leave the Dutch Eredivisie giants this summer after leading Ajax to the domestic double (Dutch Eredivisie title and the Dutch Cup).
