Premier League club Newcastle United are the latest team to show an interest in signing Manchester United playmaker Juan Manuel Mata.
According to The Sun, Newcastle United want to sign Mata this summer as they try to bolster their squad ahead of the new Premier League campaign billed to start on the 9th of August.
It was also revealed that a move for Spanish international Mata will be dependent on whether compatriot Rafael Benitez stays on as the Newcastle United manager.
Benitez is in talks with Newcastle United over a new contract.
His current Newcastle United contract expires this summer.
Juan Manuel Mata is also in the same situation as his Manchester United contract expires this summer.
The former Chelsea player joined Manchester United from Chelsea in January 2014 after the Blues paid around £37.1m for his transfer.
Recent reportes claimed that Manchester United have offered him an improved contract offer in their quest to extend his stay at Old Trafford beyond this summer.
Apart from Newcastle United, Mata has also been linked with fellow Premier League club Arsenal.
Gunners boss Unai Emery worked with Mata while he was at Spanish La Liga club Valencia.
Spanish champions Barcelona are also interested in a free transfer move for Mata.
