Premier League giants Manchester United are said to be in negotiations over a possible transfer for highly rated Benfica attacker Joao Felix this summer.
The new status was revealed by popular media outlet Goal.
Joao Felix has been attracting the interest of several clubs in Europe and his Portuguese club has already rejected several bids for him.
Towards the end of last year, Liverpool were said to have had a £61m bid rejected for him according to various British media reports.
Joao Felix has tormented several defences at home and abroad on his debut campaign for Portuguese league leaders Benfica.
His finest hour came in the Europa League quarterfinal clash with German Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt.
The Portuguese attacker scored three goals in the first leg of their last eight tie which ended in a 4-2 home win for his Benfica side.
Joao Felix and Benfica could not preserve the first leg advantage they had against 10-men Eintracht Frankfurt after they were beaten 2-0 in the second leg as their opponents qualified for the last four of the competition via the away goals rule.
Apart from Liverpool and Manchester United, other teams in the running to sign the 19-year-old include Italian champions Juventus, German champions Bayern Munich and many more.
