Spanish La Liga giants Atletico Madrid have identified a replacement for outgoing club skipper Diego Godin according to the publication from ESPN.
Atletico Madrid captain Godin will leave the club this summer after nine years with the reigning Europa League champions.
The Uruguayan national team leader was previously a strong transfer target for Premier League giants Manchester United but Italian Serie A giants Inter Milan are said to be in pole position to sign him on a free transfer upon the end of his Atletico Madrid contract this summer.
Recent reports claimed that the Italians have offered the defender a three-year deal to join them ahead of next season.
Godin has given much to Atletico Madrid in the past years after playing a big part in the team that won the 2013/14 La Liga title and also reached the Champions League final in two of the last three seasons.
According to ESPN, Atletico Madrid will sign FC Porto centre back Felipe as the direct replacement for Diego Godin as part of a triple summer swoop.
It was revealed that the Rojiblancos are plotting deals for the trio of Felipe, Hector Herrera and Alex Telles.
Atletico Madrid will sign Hector Herrera on a free transfer while €25m and €40m will be spent on Felipe and Alex Telles respectively.
