North London giants Arsenal have been boosted by the news that Ajax Amsterdam defender Nicolas Tagliafico has a release clause in his contract with the Dutch Eredivisie giants.
Argentine international Tagliafico has been constantly linked with a move to the Gunners only for the club to be dealt a huge transfer blow when he signed a contract extension at Ajax.
The left-back signed a one-year extension to his then Ajax Amsterdam deal to take him to the summer of 2022 at the club.
It has now been revealed that he has a €20m release clause in his new contract with Ajax.
According to the publication from Dutch media outlet Ajax 1, Nicolas Tagliafico can leave the club for just €20m next year.
The aforementioned report also said that both parties (Ajax and the player) will split the remainder of his transfer fee if it exceeds €20m.
Nicolas Tagliafico joined Ajax in January 2018 for just €4m and a €20m transfer fee will represent a significant profit on their investment.
He has been a key part of their run to the last four of the Champions League.
Ajax Amsterdam reached the semifinals of the Champions League and were within seconds of reaching the final billed for Madrid in June before Lucas Moura completed his treble for Tottenham Hotspur to take the North Londoners through to the Champions League final.
