The West London outfit Chelsea are reportedly getting set to hand a new deal to Brazilian international and veteran defender David Luiz as his contract with the club winds down.

David Luiz has been locked up in talks with the Blues team over some times as he made his intention o remain at the club much longer but the terms were not earlier agreed upon.

The former PSG star had made a request to be handed more than a year contract extension against the policy of the club to players who are above 30.

It was reported that the Blues team have agreed to come in terms with the star player after the intervention of Italian boss Maurizio Sarri who convinced the board.

However, the Blues have been hailed for taking the bold step to agree on a new deal with David Luiz as it is reported that Gary Cahill will be leaving the team at the end of the season which means the Brazilian international will be available to take up that responsibility.

Meanwhile, an official announcement is expected to be made by the Blues team on the new deal for David Luiz before the start of the coming season.
