It is claimed that English Premier League outfit Liverpool have entered the race to secure the signature of Dutch outfit Ajax star defender Matthijs De Ligt ahead of the coming summer transfer window.

Matthijs De Ligt is of high demand at the moment as a number of teams including Man United and Barcelona are keen to land him as soon as the summer window is opened.

The star player has been able to form a strong partnership with Liverpool defender Virgil Van Dijk in the Holland national team which is the reason why the Reds team seek to land Matthijs De Ligt so they can help seal the defence.

However, former Reds defender Jamie Carragher has backed his club to move ahead with the bid, stating that Matthijs De Ligt will be a good addition to the team.

However, former Man United goalkeeper and Ajax CEO Van Der Sar has admitted that Matthijs De Ligt could leave the club at the end for the season as a result of the many offers already on the table for him.

Meanwhile, it is unsure of Liverpool will be ready to challenge for Matthijs De Ligt financially as he could attract a huge fee that Jurgen Klopp will not be ready to pay.
