Premier League giants Manchester United are planning a summer move for Leicester City defender Harry Maguire when the transfer window reopens in few weeks’ time.

According to the publication from the stables of popular media outlet The Sun, the Red Devils want to boost their defensive options with the signing of the England international centre back.

Harry Maguire rose to worldwide recognition at the last FIFA World Cup tournament in Russia.

The former Hull City and Sheffield United player was one of the standout performers for England who finished the tournament in fourth position behind the Red Devils of Belgium, Croatia and world champions France.

Manchester United could spend as much as £80m to sign him from Leicester City this summer out of the £200m set aside for the Red Devils to sign players.

A major rebuilding job will be carried out on the playing squad at Manchester United and a lot of focus will be on the defence.

Manchester United have had one of their worst seasons on the defensive front and reinforcements are needed ahead of the new season which will start in August.

The Red Devils have one of the worst defensive records in the Premier League this season with 52 goals conceded in just 37 games.
