Big Blow: In-demand De Ligt Turns Down Man Utd Move

Premier League giants Manchester United have been dealt a huge transfer blow after they were turned down by highly rated Ajax Amsterdam defender Matthijs De Ligt.

According to the publication from the Daily Star, the Red Devils were rejected by De Ligt even before they missed out on the Champions League next season.

Manchester United will play in the Europa League and not the Champions League next season after the disappointing 1-1 draw at the home of Huddersfield Town in their Premier League clash on Sunday afternoon.

It was revealed that Matthijs De Ligt wants to join either Barcelona or Real Madrid when he leaves Ajax Amsterdam this summer.

Recent reports had claimed that his agent Mino Raiola was pushing for a move to Old Trafford rather than a transfer to Spanish champions Barcelona who are the favourites to sign him.

Barcelona have already signed his Ajax Amsterdam and Dutch national team colleague cum buddy Frenkie De Jong and the player is understandably in favour of a move to the Nou Camp where he will link up again with his friend next season.

Barcelona paid around €75m for Frenkie De Jong during the last winter transfer window but he’s not expected to join them until this summer.
