North London giants Arsenal have been dealt a big blow after one of their transfer targets signed a contract extension at his club.
Ajax Amsterdam defender Nicolas Tagliafico has been in very good form for the Dutch Eredivisie giants and he has rightly attracted the interest of clubs like Arsenal and Atletico Madrid.
The Gunners have identified the left-back position as one of the areas to be strengthened in the team and Argentine national team player Tagliafico was seen as a top candidate for the job but that’s looking unlikely at the moment after the news of his new contract.
Tagliafico has signed a one-year contract extension to take his current deal at Ajax Amsterdam to the summer of 2022.
The latest development is a big blow to both Arsenal and Atletico Madrid.
Nicolas Tagliafico has been an integral part of the successes recorded by Ajax Amsterdam this term.
He has scored six goals and also provided eight assists in all competitions for Ajax this term as the Dutch giants try to win three trophies this season.
Ajax Amsterdam are in the hunt for three trophies namely the Champions League, Dutch Eredivisie and the Dutch Cup.
Tagliafico and Ajax face Willem II in the Dutch Cup final this weekend before taking on English side Tottenham Hotspur at home in the second leg of their Champions League semifinal tie with a 1-0 lead from the first leg.
Ajax are the current Dutch Eredivisie leaders with two games left though they have the same points with title rivals PSV Eindhoven.
