Manchester United defender Eric Bailly has decided to stay at the club beyond this season despite the interest from several clubs including Premier League rivals Arsenal.
This is according to the publication from Manchester Evening News (MEN) which claimed that the Ivorian international star wants to fight for his place in the Manchester United team.
North London giants Arsenal are long-term admirers of Eric Bailly and they came close to signing him during the January transfer window.
Apart from Arsenal, Eric Bailly has also been linked with a move to other European clubs like French Ligue 1 club Lyon and Italian Serie A side AC Milan.
Eric Bailly has not lived up to expectations at Manchester United since he joined the club from Spanish La Liga club Villarreal in the summer of 2016.
The Red Devils were said to have paid around £30m to secure his signing from Villarreal.
Bailly was the first signing of the Jose Mourinho managerial era which started in 2016 and ended earlier this season.
Mourinho was sacked by Manchester United in December 2018 after a poor start to the Premier League season and was swiftly replaced by former striker Oleg Gunnar Solskjaer.
Bailly struggled to feature consistently under the two managers as a result of injury.
