Ex-Man Utd Boss Aims Slight Dig At Solskjaer

Former Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal (LVG) has aimed a slight dig at the current recipient of the role Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for his defensive style.

LVG called out Solskjaer in his latest interview as monitored by popular media outlet Goal.

The recently retired Dutch manager had earlier labelled former club striker Solskjaer as a defensive-minded coach before adding that there’s not much difference between the current Red Devils manager and the man he replaced at Old Trafford, Jose Mourinho.

LVG said that Solskjaer employs the same park-the-bus tactics as Portuguese tactician Mourinho.

LVG was heavily criticised for that statement and he’s not backing down going by what he said in his latest interview.

According to him, Solskjaer has not been afraid to go on the defensive tactically.

He went on to say that the former Manchester United striker employed a defensive style in previous games against Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal.

Solskjaer was also defensive in the Champions League ties against French giants Paris Saint Germain (PSG) and Barcelona.

His style worked wonders against the likes of Spurs, Arsenal and PSG but didn’t have much effect on the Barcelona game after they were beaten 4-0 on aggregate.

Lionel Messi scored twice for Barcelona in their 3-0 win over Manchester United in the second leg at the Nou Camp to seal the Red Devils’ exit from the competition.
