Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde has revealed that star player Lionel Messi is in perfect shape ahead of their Champions League clash with Premier League club Manchester United.

The Catalans host Manchester United in the second leg of their Champions League last eight tie.

Barcelona hold a slender 1-0 advantage from the first leg at Old Trafford last week as a result of a 12th minute Luke Shaw own goal.

In his pre-match press conference before the game, Ernesto Valverde assured that all was well with five-time Ballon d’Or winner Messi and that the Argentine national team skipper will lead Barcelona out against the Red Devils.

Initially, there were concerns on whether Messi will be fit for the second leg game on Tuesday night.

Messi had suffered a bloodied face and nose during the first leg at Old Trafford last week Wednesday.

He sustained the injury from a heavy foul by Manchester United defender Chris Smalling.

Barcelona are overwhelming favourites to secure a semifinal berth at the expense of a Manchester United side that has lost four of the last six games in all competitions.

The Spaniards are in a better form ahead of the Champions League meeting with the Red Devils despite the fact that several players were rested for this game and went on to play out a 0-0 with hosts Huesca in their league meeting at the weekend.
