It has been reported that Liverpool target and Ajax defender Matthijs De Ligt is ready to snub a move to the Merseyside outfit Liverpool to join their title rivals Man City as soon as he leaves the Amsterdam later this year.
The Reds team have long been in pursuit of the star defender with the hope that he could come to form a partnership with his Dutch teammate Virgil Van Dijk when he eventually joins.
But from the latest report, he would seek to join Man City who are also keen on his signature as they also hope to strengthen to face the challenge of the coming season.
The 19-year-old has been rated to be one of the best amongst his ranks and has been tipped for a brighter future.
However, Liverpool have been told they will no longer have the star player which means they will look elsewhere for an alternative.
Meanwhile, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has hinted that he will not do big money deals as he would love to keep his current squad together ahead of the coming season.
This gives Barcelona an edge as they are also keen on the signature of the young sensation.
