Ajax Amsterdam skipper Matthijs De Ligt has showered high praise on Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo following their quarterfinal meeting in the Champions League.
Dutch Eredivisie giants Ajax met Juventus in the first leg of their last eight tie in Europe’s premier club competition and former Manchester United player Ronaldo left a lasting impression on the young Ajax captain.
Cristiano Ronaldo scored a big goal to give Juventus the lead in the 45th minute but De Ligt and Ajax were able to salvage the situation after David Neres equalised for his team shortly after the resumption of the second half.
After the game, Matthijs De Ligt told reporters that Ronaldo is a predator in the box and it was not surprising that he scored for Juventus.
De Ligt further expressed the confidence he has in the ability of his team to pull off a good result in Turin.
Juventus will host Ajax Amsterdam in the second leg in Turin next week Tuesday and the Italians would start as slight favourites to secure a last four berth.
Ronaldo would be hoping to continue his good Champions League record in the second leg in Turin.
The 34-year-old is the leading goalscorer in the Champions League with 125 goals including 24 goals in 21 quarterfinal games.
