Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo made a welcomed return to the pitch during the Italian champions’ Champions League quarterfinal first leg clash with Dutch Eredivisie giants Ajax Amsterdam.

The former Manchester United superstar was on the scoresheet as his Juventus side played out a 1-1 draw with a youthful Ajax team.

Ronaldo scored the all-important away goal for Juventus to give the Old Lady the lead on the stroke of halftime off an assist from national team colleague Joao Cancelo.

The hosts equalised straight after the restart through Brazilian striker David Neres who profited from a mistake from the aforementioned Cancelo.

Juventus ensured that the home side didn’t add to their tally despite their industry and it was even the Italians who came close to snatching the second goal towards the end of the game through substitute Douglas Costa who hit the post with a well taken shot.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored another goal in the quarterfinals of the Champions League to take his tally to 24 goals in 21 appearances in the last eight.

He has scored 125 goals in the Champions League.

The goal against Ajax also took his tally for the season to 25 goals in all competitions in what has been a productive first year at Juventus.
