Arsenal manager Unai Emery has revealed that star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is in line for a start against Napoli on Thursday night.

Unai Emery and his players take on Italian Serie A giants Napoli at the Emirates Stadium in what’s the first leg of their Europa League last eight tie and Gabonese international Aubameyang is expected to start the game.

In his pre-match press conference ahead of the game, the Spanish tactician told reporters that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang didn’t start the last two games because he took antibiotics to treat sickness and that the former Borussia Dortmund player was not fully fit.

Aubameyang had played 90 minutes for Gabon in their 1-1 draw with Burundi in their final African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier during the international break before returning to the Arsenal bench for the 2-0 league win over Newcastle United at home.

He came off the bench to set up the second goal for strike partner Alexandre Lacazette in the final ten minutes of the Newcastle United game.

Aubameyang also came off the bench at the start of the second half but he was unable to prevent the Gunners from suffering a 1-0 league defeat to hosts Everton.

He’s the Gunners’ leading goalscorer this season with 22 goals in all competitions.
