Champions League: Barcelona Prepare For Man United Clash With Win

Spanish champions Barcelona got a morale-boosting Spanish La Liga win ahead of their Champions League clash with Premier League giants Manchester United later this week.

Barcelona travel to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United in the first leg of their quarterfinal tie and the Spaniards warmed up for that game with a 2-0 win over La Liga title rivals at home.

The five-time European champions moved a step closer to retaining their league title with the win over 10-man Atletico Madrid at the Nou Camp on Saturday night.

The turning point in the game between Barcelona and Atletico Madrid came in the 28th minute when Diego Costa was sent off for his rant towards the centre referee and that dismissal proved to be costly for Atletico Madrid.

Barcelona dominated proceedings as they made their numerical advantage but Atletico Madrid shot stopper Jan Oblak was in devastating form as he repelled everything thrown at him by the home side until the 85th minute when Luis Suarez broke the deadlock with a fantastic shot from outside the box.

Lionel Messi swiftly added a second goal within a minute to give Barcelona the three points at stake and also extend their lead over nearest challengers Atletico Madrid to 11 points at the top of the Spanish La Liga table.
