Champions League: Barcelona Can Topple Man United


Manchester United legend Dwight Yorke is certain that his former club can topple favourites Barcelona in their Champions League last 16 tie.

Yorke told the official website of Manchester United that the Red Devils can beat Barcelona despite the fact that the Spanish champions have Lionel Messi is in their ranks.

Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi is widely regarded as one of the best players to have played the game alongside the likes of Edson Arantes Do Nacimento (Pele) and Diego Armando Maradona.

Messi has previously tormented Manchester United in the Champions League but Dwight Yorke believes that the Red Devils can navigate past Barcelona despite the threat that the five-time Ballon d’Or winner poses.

The Barcelona skipper scored the clinching goal in a 2-0 win over Manchester United in their Champions League final clash in 2009.

Messi also scored in the 2011 Champions League final when Catalan giants Barcelona beat Manchester United 3-1 to win a second title in three years.

Barcelona sealed a quarterfinal spot in this season’s Champions League via a 5-1 aggregate win over French giants Lyon in their last 16 tie

Manchester United also got the better of another French club Paris Saint Germain (PSG) in their last 16 tie with the help of the away goals rule.
