Newly appointed Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has leapt to the defence of star player Paul Pogba after his average performance during the Premier League match with Wolverhampton Wanderers
Paul Pogba was heavily criticised for his poor challenge against Wolves at the Molineux on Tuesday night.
The French World Cup winner produced a weak display against the Red Devils’ opponents having also churned out a similar display against the same opponent in their FA Cup display last month.
Manchester United were eliminated in the quarterfinals of the FA Cup by Wolves via a 2-0 defeat in March before their Premier League meeting on Tuesday.
In his post-match reaction to the 2-1 defeat to Wolves, Solskjaer was quick to defend Paul Pogba as he said that the Frenchman can’t always produce impressive displays all the time.
Paul Pogba started the season poorly while Jose Mourinho was still the Manchester United manager but he has been able to return to form since the appointment of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
He has scored nine goals in the space of four months under Solskjaer but his recent poor form has coincided with transfer rumours linking him with a move to the Spanish La Liga.
Outgoing European champions Real Madrid and their manager Zinedine Zidane are keen on a move for him this summer.
