Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez has praised the club’s record signing ahead of the Magpies’ Premier League clash against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Monday night.
In his pre-match press thoughts ahead of the Arsenal game, Benitez lauded Miguel Almiron for his impact on the team despite the fact that he has not scored since signing for the club.
Paraguayan international Miguel Almiron became the most expensive player in the history of the club after Newcastle United paid £20m to sign him during the January transfer window.
Almiron joined the Magpies from Major League Soccer (MLS) club Atlanta United after he helped them to win the MLS Cup last season.
Benitez praised his new acquisition for the way he has been able to impact his Newcastle United teammates since his debut in February.
Miguel Almiron made his Magpies debut in February during the 2-0 home win over Newcastle United over basement club Huddersfield Town.
Benitez would be hoping that his record signing can open his account in front of goal when they take on the Gunners later on Monday.
Newcastle United are seven points clear of the relegation zone ahead of the Arsenal game and are not in immediate danger of not staying in the Premier League beyond this season.
