Former Liverpool star Alberto Aquilani has revealed how he was on the radar of the two London outfits Arsenal and Chelsea but he rejected them for the Merseyside outfit.
Alberto Aquilani was believed to be brought in as a replacement for Xabi Alonso but it did not work out as he was unable to cover the vacuum left behind by the star player before he joined Spanish La Liga outfit Real Madrid.
At his younger age, Alberto Aquilani was tipped to be the best midfielder in Europe but it all failed at the end of the day as he did not live up to expectations.
Alberto Aquilani is now reflecting on his time at the Merseyside outfit, noting that it was difficult to play in Egad, citing the temperature and other reasons for his inability to perform.
He, however, noted that he was able to play with the likes of Fernando Torres, Javier Mascherano and Dirk Kurt who were all senior players he had looked up to.
However, Alberto Aquilani was later made to leave the club because of his inability to blend with the energy and speed needed in the Premier League as he was sent out on loan to Milan and later Juventus.
