FC Porto midfielder Hector Herrera is set to sign a lengthy contract with Spanish La Liga club Atletico Madrid according to reports emanating from the media in Spain.
Trusted Spanish newspaper Marca revealed that Hector Herrera will join the reigning Europa League champions as a free agent when the transfer window reopens in the summer.
It was revealed that the 28-year-old snubbed the likes of North London giants Arsenal and the Italian trio of AC Milan, Inter Milan and AS Roma.
Hector Herrera opted for Atletico Madrid ahead of the other clubs after Rojiblancos manager Diego Simeone convinced him to be a part of the revolution at the club.
Atletico Madrid have already lost the services of Lucas Hernandez to German Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich and will have to beef up their squad in the defensive areas.
Hector Herrera is a midfielder and he’ll be a fantastic addition to the team in the middle of the pack.
Bayern Munich broke their transfer record earlier this week when they splashed €80m to sign Lucas Hernandez from Atletico Madrid.
Lucas Hernandez was part of the French squad that won last summer’s FIFA World Cup tournament in Russia and he’s expected to join Bayern Munich at the end of this season.
