Dutch Eredivisie giants Ajax Amsterdam have concluded plans to offer goalkeeper Andre Onana a new contract to ward off the interests of other major European clubs like Barcelona and Arsenal.

This is according to the publication from trusted Spanish newspaper Marca which revealed that Ajax will offer the Cameroonian international shot-stopper a one-year extension to his current deal.

His present contract expires at the end of the 2020/21 season and Ajax are ready to extend it until 2022.

Andre Onana has emerged as one of the first names on the teamsheet at Ajax whom he joined from Barcelona in 2015.

Spanish champions Barcelona want to bring him back to the Nou Camp but the Blaugrana will have to fend off the threat of a new contract from Ajax.

Andre Onana has been a key player for Ajax Amsterdam in their run to the quarterfinals in the Champions League.

Ajax will face Italian champions Juventus over two legs later this month for the right to qualify for the semifinals.

The Dutch Eredivisie giants secured their spot in the last eight via an aggregate win over outgoing European champions Real Madrid.

Ajax had lost the first leg 2-1 at home before they thrashed their Spanish opponents 4-1 to secure a 5-3 aggregate win over the holders.
