West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice has come under heavy attack from former Republic of Ireland James McClean after he switched international allegiance to England.
In a chat with RTE Sport, Stoke City winger McClean slammed the aforementioned Rice who had earlier pledged his allegiance to the Republic of Ireland before reneging on that pledge to play for England.
Declan Rice has been one of the best young players in the Premier League this season and his form has prompted intense transfer rumours involving the best teams in the top flight of English football including Arsenal.
Rice played three friendly games for the Republic of Ireland and that made it possible for the former Chelsea player to represent the Three Lions of England.
The West Ham player was able to switch his international allegiance from the Republic of Ireland to the Three Lions of England as he didn’t play competitive football for Ireland.
Declan Rice was invited to the Three Lions of England setup for the first time for the recently played games against Czech Republic and Montenegro.
He made his debut for the England national team on Monday night during the comprehensive win over Montenegro.
Rice and England came from behind to beat Montenegro 5-1 away from home.
