Arsenal To Offload ‘Expensive’ Midfield Duo
Premier League giants Arsenal are looking to offload two of their big-name players when the transfer window reopens in the summer.
This is according to the publication from popular English media platform Daily Mirror.
It was revealed that the Gunners want to offload midfielders Mesut Ozil and Henrikh Mkhitaryan to free up funds for transfers this summer.
Ozil and Mkhitaryan are the top two earners in the Arsenal squad.
Retired German international Mesut Ozil has not always seen eye to eye with Arsenal manager Unai Emery since the Spaniard was appointed as the replacement for legendary boss Arsene Wenger last summer.
Ozil has been dropped for many games this season but it appears like he’s gradually winning the trust of his manager in recent weeks.
The 30-year-old earns at least £350,000 on a weekly basis at Arsenal while Mkhitaryan is set to be on weekly wages of £170,000.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan is enjoying his best spell as an Arsenal player at the moment.
The Armenian international has been in churning out impressive performances for the Gunners since he returned from injury last month.
His form has propelled the Gunners into the top four on the Premier League table.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan became an Arsenal player in January 2018 following a swap deal between the Gunners and Manchester United.
Chilean star Alexis Sanchez moved in the other direction.
