Arsenal Eyeing €40m Summer Move For Benfica Defender

North London giants Arsenal are plotting a summer transfer for highly rated Benfica defender Alejandro Grimaldo according to widespread media reports in the United Kingdom.
Popular Italian news outlet Calciomercato claimed that the Gunners are interested in the Spanish left-back.
It was revealed that Arsenal might need to spend as much as €40m to sign him.
Alejandro Grimaldo has had a very good season for Benfica who are looking to reclaim the Portuguese top flight title from FC Porto.
The 23-year-old is a product of the famed Barcelona Academy.
He has scored four goals and provided six assists in 26 league games for Benfica this term.
Arsenal have made the signing of a new left-back top priority ahead of the resumption of the transfer window this summer and it’s not surprising that the Gunners have been linked with potential candidates like Ben Chilwell (Leicester City) and the aforementioned Grimaldo.
Current first-choice Nacho Monreal is in the twilight of his career though he was recently given a new one-year deal to take his time at the club till the summer of 2020.
The second left-back is Bosnian international Sead Kolasinac who functions better as a left wing-back rather than as a left-sided defender.
The former Schalke 04 player can also play as a left-sided midfielder.
