Man United legend Rio Ferdinand has claimed that the Merseyside outfit Liverpool have got some fake fans who have been silent all through the past 20 years as a result of the inability of their team to come close to winning a trophy.

According to the former defender, the plastic fans seem to have found their voice back now that it is looking likely that the Jurgen Klopp team will win a title this season as they are now at the top of the league.

The last time Liverpool won a domestic League title is in the 1989/90 season before it was rebranded as the Premier League and some fans have not been proud to sing the praise of their team until now.

Rio Ferdinand stated that he never knew some persons were Liverpool fans until now as they have not been vocal and have been close all these while.

However, Rio Ferdinand said he would be pained to see Liverpool win the League title over Man City despite knowing that the best team will win the league at the end of the day.

Meanwhile, Liverpool came close to winning the Premier League last season as they were second in the league table. This season might just be the year for manager Jurgen Klopp to land his first trophy as manager of the club.
