Liverpool’s best defender Vigil Van Dijk could have ruined the Reds’ season on Sunday after a blunder he committed against Fulham at the Craven Cottage when he headed the ball behind to goalkeeper Alisson Becker.

Vigil Van Dijk showed relief when his side eventually won the game as his mistake ensured Fulham’s only goal of the game.

The Merseyside outfit are now two points above Man City to top the league table and continue the press for the season’s title.

Vigil Van Dijk noted that the most important thing is the fact that his side won the game, stressing that mistakes happen in football but it is always better when you have the opportunity to have it corrected.

The Netherlands international central defender stated that he is not giving an excuse for his mistakes because he should have handled it better.

However, Liverpool are now back in the race and there is no doubt that the contest will go down until the last game of the season with all indications.

There is a bid by the Merseyside outfit to end their Premier League title drought as the last time they won was in 1990. They have got a chance this season with the win against Fulham.
