It has been reported that Chelsea star Danny Drinkwater will now be heading to the Italian Serie A outfit AS Roma as soon as the summer transfer window is reopened.
It is claimed that the Serie A outfit are keen on his signature and will make an attempt to hand him an escape route away from the West London outfit where he has been relegated to bench roles.
Danny Drinkwater joined the Stamford Bridge in 2017 just after winning the historic Premier League title with Leicester City for a fee of about £34 million but he has not had it any good with just little playing time under former manager Antonio Conte.
It is still unchanged under the current Blues boss Maurizio Sarri and that has left him frustrated to want a move away from the club. Danny Drinkwater had made attempts in the last January winter transfer window but his chances were blocked by the club.
However, with AS Roma having a new manager and Danny Drinkwater’s former boss Claudio Ranieri, the club are keen to ensure a reunion of the two as it could spark the career of the star player once again.
There is no doubt that Danny Drinkwater is not in the plans of the Blues boss but they could force to keep him again as a result of the transfer ban they have to serve.
