Unai Emery Indifferent About Auba Mask Celebration
Arsenal manager Unai Emery has pointed out that his focus was on the performance of star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang rather than his mask celebration.
Gabonese international Aubameyang became the topic of discussion for fans in and out of the sporting world after he used a Black Panther mask to celebrate his second Arsenal goal during the Europa League win over French club Rennes on Thursday.
Despite the media frenzy that greeted the mask celebration, Unai Emery was left unbothered as he focused on the superb performance of his striker.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored twice during the Gunners’ 3-0 win over Rennes at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal had lost the first leg in France 3-1 but they were able to overturn that deficit with the second leg result thereby securing qualification to the quarterfinals via a 4-3 aggregate win.
Aubameyang was involved in all the Arsenal goals in their second leg meeting with Rennes.
He gave the Gunners an early lead in the 4th minute before providing the assist for the second goal scored by Ainsley Maitland-Nile on 15 minutes.
Aubameyang then wrapped up the win in the 72nd minute.
Unai Emery will be hoping that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will continue his fantastic goalscoring form when Arsenal face Napoli over two legs in the quarterfinals of the competition.
