Arsenal have work to do if they want to continue their campaign in the Europa League following their loss to French club Rennes last week in what was the first half of their last 16 tie.

The Gunners were cruising in the first leg in France until defender Sokratis Papasthathopoulos was sent off for two yellow cards.

Everything went downhill from there as the Gunners conceded three goals thereafter to surprisingly lose 3-1 to Julian Stephan’s side.

Benjamin Bourigeaud, Nacho Monreal (own goal) and Ismaila Sarr got the goals for the hosts after Alex Iwobi had given the Gunners an early lead.

Arsenal need to score at least two unreplied goals to secure a quarterfinal spot ahead of their French opposition.

They prepared for the second leg meeting with Rennes at the Emirates Stadium with a 2-0 home win over Premier League top four rivals Manchester United.

Granit Xhaka and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang got the goals for the Gunners against Manchester United.

Arsenal were boosted with the news that striker Alexandre Lacazette is available to play after his suspension was reduced from three games to two games.

The Gunners have been given the winning odds of 1.30 according to Bet365 while an unlikely away win for Rennes is at the odds of 11.0.

A stalemate does not favour the hosts and it’s at the odds of 6.0.
