Real Madrid players are reportedly against the idea of appointing Jose Mourinho as their new manager according to reports emanating from the British media.

The Daily Mail claim that several senior players have objected to the appointment of the former Manchester United manager.

Real Madrid are expected to sack Santiago Solari and appoint a new manager before the start of next season and Jose Mourinho has been mooted as a strong candidate for the job.

Mourinho has been working as a pundit since his last managerial job.

He was sacked as the Manchester United manager in December after a disastrous start to the season in the Premier League.

He previously managed Real Madrid for three seasons between 2010 and 2013.

His Real Madrid tenure was characterised by feuds with his players including club captain Sergio Ramos.

Other senior Real Madrid players like Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and Marcelo are also opposed to the appointment though club president Florentino Perez has said that the players won’t have their way.

Santiago Solari will almost certainly leave his post as the Real Madrid manager after he led the team to a below par season.

Real Madrid are already out of contention in all the three competitions namely the Spanish La Liga, Spanish Copa Del Rey and the Champions League.
