Chelsea first choice goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga was snubbed in the London derby game against Tottenham owing to his actions in the Carabao Cup finals against Man City at the weekend.
Kepa Arrizabalaga had publicly embarrassed manager Maurizio Sarri by refusing to be substituted in the extra-time for Willy Caballero despite the sound of the whistle by the referee to take the instruction with the manager on the touchline.
As a way of ensuring discipline and proving that he is in charge of the team, manager Maurizio Sarri decided to snub the player in addition to the fine by the club.
Willy Caballero was then handed the opportunity to see through the London derby game against Tottenham where he recorded a clean sheet with no concern over his performance.
He has revealed that he received a fantastic treatment from Kepa Arrizabalaga despite starting in his place, stressing that he doesn’t care about all that happened in the game against Man City.
According to him, Kepa Arrizabalaga gave him all the needed support for the game and was happy he delivered a clean sheet.
However, manager Maurizio Sarri has made it clear that Kepa Arrizabalaga remains his first choice goalkeeper and not Willy Caballero despite his impressive performance.
