Football pundit Paul Merson has advised Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri what he should do to Kepa Arrizabalaga after the Sunday drama in the Carabao Cup finals against Man City.
Kepa Arrizabalaga had openly rejected the calls on him by the coach and the assistant referee to be substituted, insisting he would not leave the pitch and will go through the penalty runs.
The action of the goalkeeper has been condemned by the football world as it has been viewed as disrespect to the manager despite his effort to explain and the defence from manager Maurizio Sarri.
However, Paul Merson who spoke on the Debate said there is a need for the former Napoli manager to make a statement by relegating Kepa Arrizabalaga to the bench for Willy Caballero in the coming game as a proof that he is in charge.
He made it clear that the only way Maurizio Sarri can prove that he has not lost control of his players is to stay strong and make the decision to ensure other players don’t act like that next time.
However, Kepa Arrizabalaga has been fined by the club. He would not be having a week wage while the FA have remained calm on the matter.
