Arsenal will have to see off the transfer challenge of North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the bid to boost their squad with Real Betis defender Aissa Mandi following the news that Spurs have registered a strong interest in the player.
According to El Desmarque, Tottenham are monitoring the player’s situation at Real Betis with the view to making a move for the player in the summer.
Aissa Mandi has been ever-present for his Real Betis side this season.
The 27-year-old has been in very good form for his Spanish La Liga club.
Mandi has made 34 appearances for Real Betis in all competitions this season.
The Algerian international is a versatile player that can play in three positions defensively.
He can play as a centre back as well as on the fullbacks (whether left-back or right-back).
Arsenal have had a lot of problems on the defensive front since the season started with Gunners boss Unai Emery failing to stem the tide.
The North Londoners have one of the worst defensive records in the top ten of the Premier League table with just four clean sheets in the league since the start of this campaign.
Arsenal have not been helped with long-term injuries to the duo of Rob Holding and Hector Bellerin.
