How Liverpool will benefit from United’s PSG defeat

Manchester United saw their first defeat under their new interim manager against Paris Saint Germain in the Champions League on Tuesday night by 2-0.

More to the defeat is the fact that they lost two major players- Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial to injuries as both could not finish the game, leaving the team incomplete ahead of their highly anticipated clash against Liverpool later this month.

Jesse Lingard could not wait to see out the first half as he limped off with a suspected muscle strain while Martial could not start the second half. It is unclear what the situation is with the two stars but there is no doubt that the fitness level would be reduced if they will be ready before the Liverpool clash.

This remains a big boost for Liverpool as they will not only meet a broken red Devils team but they will meet a less-strong side that will make the challenge easier for them to handle.

Also, Liverpool are now having the likes of Jordan Henderson, James Milner Fabinho and Gini Wijnaldum return from injury for the game which is a major boost.

However, a win for Liverpool will ensure they take a three point lead in the Premier League table.
