Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit is certain that summer signing Matteo Guendouzi has what it takes to be a future leader at the club.
Arsenal legend Petit praised the impact of the young French midfielder at the club in an exclusive interview with Football London.
He lauded the energy, anger and desire shown by Matteo Guendouzi in the colours of the Gunners before adding that the Frenchman reminds him of a young Emmanuel Petit.
Ex-French international star Petit played for Arsenal between 1997 and 2000 and was part of the Gunners squad that won the double during the 1997/98 season.
He went on to win the 1998 FIFA World Cup tournament on home soil.
Matteo Guendouzi has been earning rave reviews at Arsenal in what’s his debut campaign for the Gunners since his transfer last summer.
Arsenal paid £7m to secure his transfer from French second division club Lorient at the start of this season in a transfer that could best be described as a bargain deal.
He has played 32 games in all competitions for Arsenal this season playing a big part in the Gunners’ run to the top five on the Premier League table as well as the round of 32 in the Europa League.
