North London giants Arsenal were interested in taking Bayern Munich midfielder James Rodriguez on loan for the rest of the season during the just concluded January transfer window.
The Gunners were unable to pull off a deal for the Colombian international star who’s now expected to spend the remainder of the season with the Bavarian giants.
James Rodriguez is on a two-year loan deal at German Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich from Champions League holders Real Madrid after the five-time European champions paid £11m for his loan deal at the start of last season with the option to sign him permanently for £38m this summer.
Spanish media outlet Marca say that James Rodriguez didn’t fancy a move to the Premier League and that played a major role in him turning down a move to Arsenal in January.
It was revealed that he wants to go back to Real Madrid to fight for his place in the team.
James Rodriguez signed for the Los Merengues in 2014 shortly after his heroics for the Colombian national team.
Real Madrid paid French Ligue 1 giants AS Monaco £63m to secure his transfer.
He spent three seasons at Real Madrid before joining German champions Bayern Munich in 2017.
