Italian Serie A title contenders Napoli have agreed on a deal to sign Villareal midfielder Pablo Fornals according to various media reports in Italy.
Italian media portal Corriere dello Sport say that the Spanish player is the first choice replacement for Napoli legend Marek Hamsik who’s on the verge of swapping the Italian Serie A for the Chinese Super League.
Napoli had earlier failed to secure his transfer from Spanish La Liga strugglers Villareal during the January transfer window but recent reports claim that the Italians have agreed on a transfer with the agent of the player.
Pablo Fornals had previously been linked with a move to Arsenal as a possible replacement for Juventus-bound Aaron Ramsey but it seems like he could join Napoli in the summer at the expense of the Gunners.
He has a £30m release clause in his present deal with Villareal but the Yellow Submarines could sell him for less with the club struggling for form.
Villareal are four points off safety on the Spanish La Liga table at the moment.
Arsenal manager Unai Emery wanted to sign Pablo Fornals as the man to replace Welsh international star Aaron Ramsey who will join Italian Serie A champions Juventus in the summer.
