Three-time Premier League champions Arsenal tried to offload star midfielder Mesut Ozil during the winter transfer window but their efforts proved to be unsuccessful as the German remained at the club until the end of the transfer market on January 31, 2016.
The Sun revealed that the Gunners offered Mesut Ozil to Italian champions Juventus in a bid to get his astronomical salary off the wage bill at the Emirates Stadium but the Old Lady rejected that Arsenal proposition and went ahead to sign Aaron Ramsey.
Arsenal midfielder Ramsey has signed a pre-contract agreement with Juventus as officially announced by both Arsenal and Juventus.
The 28-year-old playmaker has signed a four-year contract until the end of the 2022/23 season and he’s expected to earn £400,000 on a weekly thus making the highest paid British footballer.
For now, Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil remains a Gunner and it remains to be seen whether the club will be able to move him on when the transfer window reopens in the summer.
Ozil has not made much of an impact on the Arsenal team since Unai Emery took the reins as the Gunners boss last summer.
The German has been left out of the team on several occasions by the Arsenal manager.
