German Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich have joined Manchester United in the quest to sign highly rated attacker Hannibal Mejbri who’s on the payroll of French Ligue 1 giants AS Monaco.
The Bavarian giants’ interest in the young Monaco player was revealed by German newspaper Bild.
Manchester United were linked with a move for the 16-year-old on deadline day of the winter transfer window last month but the transfer didn’t happen.
Five-time European champions Bayern have strengthened their team with a lot of young players in the past months and Hannibal Mejbri could be the latest youngster to move to the Allianz Arena.
Youngsters like Jann-Fiete Arp, Chris Richards and Alphonso Davies have moved to Bayern who also tried to sign Callum Hudson-Odoi from Chelsea last month.
Chelsea rejected five separate bids for England junior international Hudson-Odoi despite the fact that Bayern Munich were ready to go as high as £40m for him.
The 18-year-old was also keen on a transfer to Bayern but Chelsea dug deep to keep him at the club though he’s still in danger of leaving with 18 months left on his current contract with the Blues.
For Mejbri, Bayern Munich will have to do battle with Manchester United for his signature.
