Philippe Coutinho

Many English Premier League outfit Liverpool fans can still not explain why manager Jurgen Klopp released Brazilian international Philippe Coutinho to Spanish La Liga outfit Barcelona despite his very good form.

The star player was in great form which attracted Barcelona in last year’s winter window and the Reds cashed in a whopping £142 million on him to leave to the La Liga.

Philippe Coutinho got to Barcelona and became an ordinary player without the spark he was known for. Now, he can barely boast of a first team football because he has been favoured behind French forward Ousmane Dembele.

However, it has been revealed that the Reds manager Jurgen Klopp knew some secret about the Barcelona man and it was not favourable for him to keep him much longer at the Anfield.

Catalan newspaper Sport, claims the German manager was not keen on Philippe Coutinho as earlier suggested because he knew the Brazilian as a “fragile” player who has a “doubtful character”. Most importantly, he never showed leadership qualities in the dressing room.

The report claims that Jurgen Klopp has not regretted having Philippe Coutinho sold especially now that he has got Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk with the funds earns from the sale of the Brazilian.

Lionel Messi

Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde has made a decision on the availability of star player Lionel Messi for the Spanish La Liga clash with Real Betis.

Valverde and his Barcelona players welcome Real Betis to the Nou Camp on Sunday in what’s their first league game of the season.

Lionel Messi has been ruled out of the game due to the decision made by Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde and the medical team at the club.

The Barcelona superstar missed the start of the season last weekend as a result of the calf injury he sustained earlier this month.

The injury forced him to miss the Barcelona tour of the United States (US) as well as the shocking defeat to Athletic Bilbao in their league opener nine days ago.

Messi had returned to training earlier this week only for him to feel discomfort in training on Friday thereby ruling him out of the Real Betis game.

Ernesto Valverde and his Barcelona players must be wary of the threat carried by Real Betis who were the only team to win at the Nou Camp last season.

Barcelona were beaten 4-3 by Real Betis in the corresponding fixture last season.

The Catalan giants would be hoping to bounce back from their opening day defeat when they take on Real Betis at the Nou Camp.
