Seven-time European champions AC Milan are the favourites to sign FC Porto midfielder Hector Herrera ahead of Arsenal and other interested clubs according to reports emanating from the Italian media.
Sport Mediaset claim that the Italians have jumped to the front of the queue for the Mexican international player after AC Milan opened talks to sign him on a free transfer at the end of his contract with Portuguese Super League champions FC Porto this summer.
It was revealed that the Rossoneri have started talks with his agent Gabriel Moraes about a possible free transfer move to the San Siro this summer.
North London giants Arsenal have previously registered their interest in Hector Herrera who they see as a possible replacement for wantaway Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey.
Welsh international star Ramsey is widely expected to end his 11-year stay in North London following reports that Italian Serie A champions Juventus have agreed on a free transfer move for him.
Ramsey has less than six months left on his contract at the Emirates Stadium just like what’s obtainable with Hector Herrera.
Apart from AC Milan and Arsenal, Italian capital club AS Roma are also in the running to sign the 28-year-old midfielder.
