Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly is eager to join Premier League giants Manchester United according to recent reports coming out of the media in the United Kingdom.
According to the publication from the stables of London Evening Standard, Kalidou Koulibaly wants to end his five-year stay in Italy by signing for the Red Devils during this summer’s transfer window.
Manchester United have made the signing of a new centre back top priority ahead of the transfer window in the summer and Senegalese international player Koulibaly is at the top of their shortlist of possible defensive signings.
Senior club officials want an experienced partner for the impressive Victor Lindelof and they believe they can get the aforementioned Koulibaly for £85m.
Former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho had issues with the club’s hierarchy last summer for the failure to sign a new centre back.
The Red Devils failed in late bids to sign Jerome Boateng from Bayern Munich as well as Diego Godin from Atletico Madrid at the start of this season.
They were also rebuffed in their quest to prise Harry Maguire and Toby Alderweireld from Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur respectively.
Manchester United have been poor defensively this term especially when Mourinho was in charge of the team.
They have improved defensively since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was named the interim manager.
