Experienced Italian journalist Tancredi Palmeri believes that Arsenal should have tried to sign former winger Gervinho again instead of going after Inter Milan star Ivan Perisic.
According to him via his official Twitter handle, Ivorian international Gervinho is a better option for Arsenal than Ivan Perisic.
Croatian international Perisic came close to joining Arsenal in the January transfer window but the Gunners were unable to pull off a deal for him as Inter Milan held on to his services.
The Italian Serie A club were only ready to sanction his exit from the club if they received a significant transfer fee for him but Arsenal were willing to do a loan deal only.
It was widely reported that the North Londoners offered a £4.4m fee for a short-term loan deal until the end of the season with an option to buy him outrightly for £35m in the summer.
Ivan Perisic has struggled for Inter Milan this term since returning from the 2018 FIFA World Cup tournament in Russia where he had a fantastic outing for a Croatian team that reached the final of the tournament.
On the other hand, Gervinho has been in superb form for newly promoted Italian Serie A side Parma.
He played for Arsenal during a two-year spell between 2011 and 2013.
